[Raven had hoped to make it to Violet City, the next major spot on her map, by yesterday. The weather and its increasing proclivity to ruin her day notwithstanding, she put Melody into her pokéball and soldiered on, pulling her coat tight against the wind.

Today? She thinks there's pretty much no hope left of reaching the city before nightfall. Can't tell when nightfall actually is, but she knows stopping would be more dangerous than pressing on. For someone who usually can't tell the difference between a slight chill and an icy river valley, this is unusually cold. She's too numbed and exhausted to care or think about why that's so wrong, at the moment.

There's also no chance in hell she's letting Melody out again while this weather continues. Tiny fragile precious bird. Of course, if the lights she might perhaps see in the distance aren't Violet City...she may lose that chance anyway.

Feeling as though she'll just keep slowing down if she doesn't do something, Raven pulls her gear from her coat pocket and fumbles with frigid, clumsy fingers to turn it on and get the words function going.]

[It's hard to see anything out here, and a cave won't be the warmest of places. Still. It beats...well, this. She tries to gauge the distance to the lights and then to look around.]

[She's tired of fighting the weather to see messages and now that her goal has changed, she's got to find some kind of cave and who knows how long that could take. Wouldn't it be easier to just keep going to Violet City? She didn't know.

What she did know was that she couldn't stand here being indecisive. That would be the fastest way to end up frozen.]

Have you tried contacting the local police service? They're usually trained to find people during natural disasters.

[Well no. She had not. So she tries, even while she walks stumbling about to try to find this stupid cave.

A reply comes after almost too long.]

I'll have my Houndoom use Fire attacks from the entrance every so often. You might be able to see them.

[It's still a long walk, and discouraging to turn aside from the dancing lights at the edge of her field of vision. What feels like a very long while later, she sees new and different lights in the snow, reddish bursts that wobble against the endless white.

Twenty minutes after that she mostly falls into the opening of the cave.]

[Good thing there's a Houndoom there, ready to catch her if needed, along with a trainer a little further away.]

Hey, are you alright? Is there any part of your body that doesn't feel cold anymore?

[Standing first, then talking to this guy. There's snow caked in her hair and the edges of her coat; at his question, she merely holds out her hands. Craftsman's gloves kept out the fire and heat, not the cold. They're stiff from holding the top of her coat closed tight.]

[Alright, that's not good. Definitely not good at all. He examines her hands with a frown.]

You need better gloves; you can borrow mine for now. Dark Hound, heat one of our water bottles. Slightly. Bouncy, Stripes, if you can find Ice Heals anywhere this would be a very good time for it.

[All three follow his orders immediately, leaving him free to clear some room by the fire.]
